5. schwa disappears between two open syllables and word-finally after an open syllable, high tone transfers to the previous syllable. any syllable-final geminates degeminate, as do any geminates preceded by a consonant.
6. voiceless stops also disappear syllable-finally, and approximants devoice and become fricatives

Re: Phrase evolution game
- Vowels that don't become high tone are perceived as mid tone.
- Vowels nasalize before a nasal consonant; nasal consonants then elide except before a vowel (the exception does not apply before a pausa).
- Front nasal vowels merge to /ɛ̃/ and rounded nasal vowels to /ɔ̃/. /ã ə̃/ do not change.
- Obstruents assimilate in voicing to a following consonant, even if it is after a word break (again, not in pausa).
- Vowel-initial syllables get an epenthetic /ʔ/ added at their beginning; nasal liaison blocks epenthetic /ʔ/.

- β → w
- {ʃ, ʒ} → {ʂ, ʐ}
- {r, ɣ} → ə / in coda
- ʎ → j, or → ɲ close to a nasal
- Diphthong smoothing: {eə, ɛə, oə} → {ɜː, ɜː, ɵː}
- {ie, uo} → {iə, uɵ}
- Orthography becomes hopelessly confused, leading to such curiosities as ⟨l⟩ /ɲ/ and ⟨r⟩ /s/. There is further handwritten simplification of ⟨ẹg~äg⟩→⟨ä̧⟩→⟨ɑ̧̈⟩→⟨ɡ̈⟩.

Re: Phrase evolution game
I think that's run its course now.
Let's do Spanish this time:
[ẽn ũn luˈɣ̞aɾ ð̞e la ˈmãnʲ.t͡ʃa | d̪e ˈku.ʝo ˈnõm.bɾe no ˈkje.ɾo a.koɾˈð̞aɾ.me | ˈno ˌa ˈmu.t͡ʃo ˈt̪jẽm.po ke β̞iˈβ̞i.a ũn iˈð̞al.ɣ̞o ð̞e loz ð̞e ˈlãn̟.θa ẽn as.t̪iˈʎe.ɾo | aˈð̞aɾ.ɣ̞a ãn̪ˈt̪i.ɣ̞wa | roˈθĩɱ ˈfla.ko i ˈɣ̞al.ɣ̞o ko.reˈð̞oɾ]
In a village of La Mancha, the name of which I have no desire to call to mind, there lived not long since one of those gentlemen that keep a lance in the lance-rack, an old buckler, a lean hack, and a greyhound for coursing.
(I'd have put the next two sentences as well, but it's late and this is plenty.)

...which is a text we've apparently already done, albeit in Latin instead of Spanish. Ah, well, too lazy to come up with anything else.

- Voicing of fricatives /f s ʂ ɕ x xw/ → /v z ʐ ʑ ɣ w/
- /pʰ tʰ t͡sʰ t͡ɕʰ t͡ʂʰ kʰ/ → /f θ s ɕ ʂ x/
- Rightwards tone shift in polysyllables, collapsing any two level tones or high + falling to a contour tone, with the left syllable taking mid tone
- Double contour tone splits over two syllables to mid + low rising
- Romanisation updates

Re: Phrase evolution game
- Retroactively added a missing syllable break.
- /j w/ → /d͡ʑ ɡw/ after a sonorant in the same word, which assimilates thereto when nasal.
- Remaining /j/ elides after /ɕ ʑ/; /ɥ/ in the same environment becomes just /ʷ/.
- The romanization gets a minor update to reflect the above.

Re: Phrase evolution game
- Final nasal consonants elide, leaving behind nasalization.
- Tones are represented in the IPA by staff letters for legibility. The tones themselves do not change, but the instance of third tone here is rendered as a "half-third" tone, and minor syllables do not have their tone explicitly notated.
- /v ɡ/ > /ʋ ɰ/ intervocalically within a word.
- The romanization is updated again.

- Retroactively make /æ̃/ consistently transliterated ain.
- The third tone shifts to a low level tone, whether or not it is a "half" third tone.

The wrath sing, goddess, of Peleus’ son, Achilles, that destructive wrath which brought countless woes upon the Achaeans, and sent forth to Hades many valiant souls of heroes, and made them themselves spoil for dogs and every bird; thus the plan of Zeus came to fulfillment, from the time when first they parted in strife Atreus’ son, king of men, and brilliant Achilles.

(Glosses may be a bit off; forgive me for any mistakes.)
From there:
- Words that began with a vowel or voiced consonant have their tone shifted two steps down. Contrastive voicing is then lost, though aspiration remains, and allophonic voicing occurs intervocalically and after a sonorant.
- /i y u/ trigger umlaut in that syllable and, if in the same word, the previous, with the effects accumulating right-to-left within a word until a syllable with no high vowel is encountered:
- /a ɛ e ɔ o u/ > /ɛ e i œ ø y/ if umlaut is triggered by /i/.
/a ɛ e i ɔ o u/ > /œ ø y y ø y y/ if umlaut is triggered by /y/.
/a ɛ e i ɔ o/ > /ɔ œ ø y o u/ if umlaut is triggered by /u/.
- /a ɛ e ɔ o u/ > /ɛ e i œ ø y/ if umlaut is triggered by /i/.
- Diphthongs monophthongize.

Re: Phrase evolution game
- Retroactively correct /sj/ that didn't become /j/.
- Rounin's cluster simplification is also applied across a syllable boundary (with compensatory lengthening as before) as well as word-initially (with no compensatory lengthening).
- /˨ ˦ ˩˨ ˧˦/ merges with /˧ ˥ ˩˧ ˧˥/.
- Vowels diphthongize in hiatus.
- Modest orthography changes: the grave is abolished and replaced with the acute, σ/ς representing /j/ is respelled ϳ (encoded as U+03F3 here), and ξ and ψ are abolished and respelled σ or ς according to normal Greek position rules.

- De-Rounin-ification: {c, cʰ, cɕ, c͡ɕʰ, ɕ, ç, ɟʑ, k, kʰ} → {k, kʰ, k͡x, k͡x, h, h, j, q, qʰ}, then {k͡x, k͡x} → x

- Final vowel deletion: {V, Vː} → {∅, V} / _# (with some tone smoothing/gliding)
- {i, y, e̞, ø̞, iː, yː, e̞ː, ø̞ː} → {ɨ, ʉ, ə, ɞ, iə̆, yɵ̆, e̞ɵ̆, œɞ̆} / before labials and coronals
