I'm wondering about a supposed quote I half-remember. It's about the difference between US-made Western movies and spaghetti Westerns. It might be by Sergio Leone, or perhaps by someone else.

It goes something like

When someone in a John Ford movie looks out of the window, he looks into a glorious future. When someone in one of my movies opens a window, he instantly gets shot.
Does anyone recognize that quote? Does anyone know what the original version was, and who came up with it?

Welcome back, although I'm the opposite of an oldbie, so it's really just a welcome. You're the West Saxon guy¹, are you not?

¹² If I'm correct, please have my appreciations anyway. If not, please accept my more general appreciations.
² I can be summarised as “the footnote guy”.
LZ – Lēri Ziwi
PS – Proto Sāzlakuic (ancestor of LZ)
PRk – Proto Rākēwuic
XI – Xú Iạlan
VN – verbal noun
SUP – supine
DIRECT – verbal directional

Thanks for the welcome! I am, in fact, the West Saxon guy, and it is still in (sporadic) development. And footnotes are underrated, glad to see them get good use!

Is malloc Eddy? I noticed some similarities (and I once characterized malloc's behaviour als "Eddyfying"), and the idea occurred to me, but I am far from sure.

That's below the belt. IMO the treatment of Serali was one of the more shameful parts of the "unsalvageable fever swamp" period in the old ZBB's history.

I'm Eddy too, but in a different way, as some of you well know.
