My wife has likely gotten Corona. Tomorrow she'll be tested. If she really has Corona, I (and my three kids) have to quaranteen for at least ten days .

Ich habe gezweifelt ob ik "muss" oder "müssen" verwenden sollte, aber da ich 'Kinder' zwischen Klammern geschrieben hatte, hab ich "muss" gewählt.
I doubted whether to use "muss" or "müssen", but since I wrote 'children' between parentheses, I chose "muss".

(In formal German, the word "werden" is probably necessary where you put it; in everyday speech, it can be left out.)

I'm always in doubt whether to use it with passives, as in Dutch we don't use it, and it's a pitfall when speaking German.

I'm always in doubt whether to use it with passives, as in Dutch we don't use it, and it's a pitfall when speaking German.

You always have to use it to form passives. The issue here is that colloquial German is quite content to use the non-past with future meaning when a temporal expression like morgen makes the time of the action clear. I find English-speakers in particular have a marked tendency to overuse the future construction with werden due to L1 interference.

I'm reading a novel set in the fourteenth century and I get distracted by the author's use of expressions that are obviously calques of English ones.

I'm sure that to him and his readers they just sound colloquial, but to me they're jarring.

That can't be it, my native language is Dutch, and we definitely use the non-past all the time for future constructions. However, we do not use an extra form of the equivalent of "worden", so that's a recurring source of errors for Dutch people speaking German. For example, "Das Auto ist gekauft worden" is just "De auto is gekocht" (or "De auto werd gekocht") in Dutch.

「cool」って日本語でかっこういいという。すごいって、「amazing」とか「omg」とか「wow」とか翻訳すればいいと思いますよ
kakkoii means cool, i think u should translate sugoi as like amazing, omg, wow.

An hour before the meet-up that asshole cat of mine went missing on me.
